In its 101st year, the tournament is set to attract more than 400 players, including many who travel from across the state to be in Kyabram.
This year the club has been able to secure major sponsorships from the Kyabram Club as well as the Shire of Campaspe, which club president Melissa Kelsey said would ensure the sustainability of the club and the event into the future.
“It’s fantastic that we are getting sponsorship from the local community.
“The club is promoting Kyabram to the players to ‘stay and play in Kyabram’ with our great accommodation and dining venues in town.
“It is a great family event with junior and senior competitions and we have many families from Melbourne and beyond that return year after year,” she said.
Held the Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the upcoming long weekend, the tournament is a round robin event, which ensures participants will get at least four sets of tennis.
The Easter Tournament has had a long and colourful history since it began in 1919. It’s grown in leaps and bounds since being run on just two courts in its first year. The tournament now runs on 16 courts.
There are doubles, singles, mixed doubles and junior events and this year they are introducing a veterans event for players over 40.
The club will be selling delicious homemade food across the weekend with the bar running from noon each day.
100-year celebration stubby holders will be for sale and the coffee van will be in attendance on Sunday and Monday. The public is welcome to come along for some top quality tennis and a cuppa.
