South Australian Head's ton against England on day three of the third Test is his fourth century in his past four Tests at Adelaide Oval.
The left-hander knelt down and kissed the pitch after entering rare air with his latest feat: he became the fourth Australian to notch centuries in four successive Tests at the same venue.
The peerless Sir Donald Bradman achieved the feat twice, at the MCG and Leeds in England; Michael Clarke scored four in a row in Adelaide; and Steve Smith has done likewise at the MCG.
Head received a raucous ovation from an adoring Adelaide crowd on posting his 11th Test ton, and his second in this Ashes series.
Promoted to open the batting in the second innings of the series-opener in Perth, Head scored an audacious, match-winning 123.
After making 33 and 23 in the second Test in Brisbane, Head fell for 10 in the first dig in Adelaide.
But he made amends in the second innings on home turf, reaching his century from 146 balls.
At stumps, Head remained unbeaten on 142 from 196 balls featuring 13 fours and two sixes.
Head's century came after being dropped on 99 when Harry Brook turfed a hot, low chance at gully from Jofra Archer's bowling.
The 31-year-old's career average in Adelaide has now climbed above 86 from eight Test matches.
