Robin Robin, 29, denied he murdered Navjeet Singh, 22, and attempted to kill Sharwan Singh, 30, in Melbourne's southeast in the early hours of May 5, 2024.
But a Victorian Supreme Court jury on Tuesday rejected his denials, instead finding him guilty of both charges over the fatal attack outside his Ormond home.
Jurors were told Robin had been drinking alcohol with friends all evening to celebrate his brother Abhijeet Abhijeet buying a car.
Sharwan Singh, who lived with Robin, left the party about 6.30pm and went to Navjeet Singh's house to play cards.
Robin and Abhijeet were angry when they found out Sharwan Singh had left and repeatedly called the 30-year-old to abuse him and demand his return.
The jury was told in one of the calls, Robin told Sharwan Singh he was no longer allowed in the house and he would start throwing his belongings out onto the street.
Navjeet Singh offered to help Sharwan Singh collect his items and drove them both to Robin's house, arriving about 12.30am.
As Sharwan Singh started putting his belongings in the car, Robin came at him and stabbed him in the chest with a knife.
Robin continued to abuse him in Hindi as he stabbed him twice more to the left shoulder.
The jury was told Navjeet Singh tried to intervene, getting in between the two men, when Robin turned on him.
He held Navjeet Singh by his shirt collar and repeatedly stabbed him as he tried to get away.
Navjeet and Sharwan Singh were both taken to hospital but the former could not be saved.
Robin and his brother both fled interstate after the incident, with police arresting the pair in NSW two days later.
Robin told an officer he was guilty but his defence barrister told the jury his client had been very intoxicated and was merely acting in self-defence.
The jury retired to consider its verdicts on Friday afternoon and delivered them on Tuesday morning.
Robin was remanded in custody and will face a pre-sentence hearing at a later date.
