Colourful mural
Renowned silo artist Jimmy Dvate has brought a colourful look to Lockington’s main street with a community mural.
It has been funded by Lockmore Financial Services and is part of a project to bring public art to the community bank branches in Lockington, Elmore and Rochester.
Tractor excursion
Those old and vintage tractors that chugged their way through Murchison, Rushworth, Moora, Colbinabbin, Elmore and Echuca in March certainly did their bit to help to combat motor neurone disease.
The excursion, which started and finished at Yarrawonga, raised almost $150,000 in the fight to find the cause and a cure for the cruel disease.

Launch on hold
The date launch of Echuca-Moama’s newest paddlesteamer, PS Australian Star, has not yet been finalised.
Built in Mildura, the $11 million vessel was to hit the water in February, but two months later that has not happened.
According to Murray River Paddle Steamers director Craig Burgess, the launch had been delayed until ‘‘technical matters’’ were sorted out.
Station open
Moama’s long-awaited police station has officially been opened.
The facility has been operational since February but it was officially opened on April 1 and has been described as a station ‘‘for now and the future’’.
Rain dries up
Kyabram is back in a dry spell, with no rain since April 11.
So far just 14.6mm has been recorded for April, while last Sunday gave a hint of the approaching winter months when the temperature dipped to 0.8°C, the lowest minimum recorded this year.
Square dinkum
G’day.
My wife and I often laugh about how competitive we are ... but I always laugh louder than she does.
