A 51-year-old Benalla man has been charged after a potentially explosive device was discovered by police at a Killena Ave property on Tuesday, September 22.
Officers had been called to the residence by a resident about 8pm.
Officers originally attended the scene to collect a box of ammunition left by a previous party, but upon attending the scene located a potentially explosive device, as well as a machete.
The man has been charged with possessing an explosive substance, making an explosive substance without lawful excuse, possessing an imitation firearm, being a prohibited person possessing an imitation firearm and drug-related offences.
He was bailed to appear at Benalla Magistrates’ Court on December 15.
