A FERA representative said councillors were engaged in the 30-minute session and asking questions about the project.
At this stage, councillors are keeping their cards close to their chests about support or opposition.
“Councillors were provided ... an understanding of what work had been undertaken, consultation that had occurred and the next steps for the project,” Campaspe Shire Mayor Daniel Mackrell said.
“It provided an opportunity for council to seek clarification on what is being proposed, however no indication of support or otherwise was provided.
“There is no position from council at this time on the proposal.”
In an email circulated to the project’s mailing list, FERA confirmed updates about the number of turbines and their locations.
Responding to changes to the VicGrid Victorian Transmission Plan and Renewable Energy Zones, including a Brolga avoidance zone, the project is planned to include 20 to 25 turbines, concentrated to the northern project area.
A project timeline looks like landowner commitments and size will be finalised by the end of 2025 to present to the community.
At this stage, FERA is planning for the project to be construction-ready in 2030.
Campaspe Shire has requested another councillor briefing before further community meetings are held.
