Council gifts nine local community groups life-saving defibrillators

Community Safety Month makes a difference each year.

During October, Greater Shepparton City Council allocated funding to several local organisations, giving them access to life-saving defibrillators and other essential accessories.

Initiated in 1996 by the Victorian Safe Communities Network Community, the annual Community Safety Month highlights the collective responsibility to enhance safety in homes, work, schools and communities.

Totalling $13,800, the funding was distributed to Toolamba Recreation Reserve, Mooroopna Education and Activity Centre, Bunbartha Community Centre, Katandra West Community Centre, St Vincent De Paul in Mooroopna, St Alban’s Anglican Church in Mooroopna, Larsen Reserve Tallygaroopna and Dookie Bowls Club.

“These new defibrillators have the potential to save someone’s life,” Mayor Shane Sali said.

He said council was proud to contribute to such an important cause.

The provision of the new equipment aligns with council’s commitment to raising awareness about safety matters, including crime prevention and emergencies, and its dedication to creating a safer environment for all.
