The annual appeal has been a cornerstone of the iconic charity’s fundraising efforts since the 1940s, with thousands of volunteers selling badges and bears to raise funds.
This Legacy Week carries even greater impact following the most significant change in Legacy’s 100 year history - an expansion of eligibility that has opened the door to thousands more families.
With growing numbers now eligible for support, Legacy expects demand for its services to increase, making this Legacy Week one of the most important yet.
Legatee John Ferguson, president of the Legacy Club of Wagga Wagga is urging the community to become involved in any way they can.
Volunteers will be stationed at Finley IGA selling merchandise and bears on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, September 1-4 between 9am and 4pm. Even the smallest gifts make a big difference.
Donations can be made online at legacy.com.au/donate or by purchasing a Legacy badge or bear or leaving your loose change with the volunteers at IGA.
Funds raised during Legacy Week will provide veterans’ families with personalised care through advocacy, financial aid, education, development, and emotional support.
For more information about Legacy Week in Finley, to donate or volunteer, contact Legacy Club of Wagga Wagga head office on (02) 6921 3452 or email admin@waggalegacy.com.au.

Members of Finley Rotary Club are continuing with their project of assisting those experiencing domestic violence with the distribution of ‘Safe Phones’.
Every three minutes, someone in Australia calls emergency for help due to a domestic violence issue.
Donated mobile phones are repurposed into secure untraceable lifelines for victims of domestic violence.
Now is the time to check cupboards for old, unused mobile phones which can be dropped off in Finley at the Country Club Hotel, Haynes Butchery or Finley Post Office. Together, we can ensure that every call for help is heard.
Further information can be obtained at https://dvsafephone.org/donate-phone or contact a member of Finley Rotary Club.
