The event line-up features a presentation by guest speaker and rural outreach support person Ivan Lister, who will speak about mental health and wellbeing.
With something for everyone, the event will include various children’s activities including a petting zoo, face painting, and a craft corner, along with opportunities for guests to win door prizes.
Organised by the Girgarre Community Cottage, the event is not only for farmers, but their support crew as well.
“You don’t have to be the farmer to attend, you can actually be anyone to do with the support network, whether you’re family, close friends, workers on the farm because they do it tough too,” Girgarre Community Cottage manager Sally Canny said.
“It’s not just a one-off event, it’s an ongoing reminder that Girgarre’s gotcha and if you need help, just come to the Girgarre Cottage.”
Attendees can enjoy complimentary roast rolls, barbecue lunch and dessert, alongside free barista coffee, with every farmer receiving their coffee in a take-home mug.
“If someone can’t turn up on the day, grab a mug and take it over as a reason to start the conversation and say hey, all these contacts are now accessible through the community cottage and everyone’s here for you.”
Representatives from local support networks will be in attendance, including Centrelink, Kyabram Health, Stanhope Health, banks, lawyers and accountants.
The free event will take place on Monday, June 29 from 10.30am to 2pm at the Girgarre Recreation Reserve Football Netball Clubrooms.
