Students from three local schools recently stepped behind the scenes at Kyabram District Health Service to discover the diverse career opportunities available in healthcare.

Organised by Campaspe Cohuna Local Learning and Employment Network, the industry immersion experience gave students from Kyabram P-12 College, St Augustine's College and Rushworth P-12 College the chance to gain insight into nursing and allied health professions.
“Industry immersion experiences like this allow students to move beyond what they see in the classroom and experience careers in action,” CCLLEN project co-ordinator (programs and partnerships) Cath Elms said.
“By meeting local professionals and exploring real workplaces, students gain a much deeper understanding of the many career pathways available within healthcare.”
During the event, students rotated through nursing and allied health stations, getting hands-on with rehabilitation equipment, practising safe patient transfer techniques, and exploring how healthcare professionals collaborate to support patients on the road to recovery.

Allied health staff walked students through the roles of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech pathologists, explaining how they support people to improve their health, independence and quality of life.
Students also had the chance to speak with healthcare professionals about study pathways, career opportunities and working in regional health services.
“We are incredibly grateful to the team at Kyabram District Health Service for generously sharing their time, expertise and passion with our students,” Ms Elms said.
“Experiences like these help young people make informed decisions about their future while also showcasing the fantastic career opportunities available right here in our region.”
