The annual tribute to the Light Horsemen, held to honour those who fought valiantly in the 1917 Charge of Beersheba, will be held at the Kyabram Cemetery on October 31,
The date marks the moment 800 Light Horsemen charged across open desert with bayonets in hand and over Turkish trenches to capture the town and secure access to water wells.
Uniformed riders and their horses will serve as the centrepiece of the commemoration, taking place at the ANZAC/Lone Pine Memorial on Saturday at 6pm.
The event is jointly organised by the Kyabram RSL sub-branch, the Kyabram Cemetery Trust, and the Kyabram Historical Society.
