Council’s clean-up program is supported by community reporting, helping ensure issues such as dumped rubbish and graffiti are quickly identified and addressed across Greater Shepparton.
While most people are still asleep, Greater Shepparton’s clean-up crews are already hard at work, keeping streets, parks and public spaces clean, safe and welcoming.

From early morning sweeps to daily maintenance across the region, this essential work includes street and footpath sweeping, bin servicing, litter collection, graffiti removal and responses to illegal dumping.
Right now, Greater Shepparton City Council is highlighting this behind-the-scenes effort through its Keeping Greater Shepparton Clean campaign, which shines a light on the scale and importance of the work.
Council acting director of infrastructure Janelle Bunfield said the campaign helped recognise often unseen efforts.
“This work happens every day across Greater Shepparton and plays an important role in keeping our public spaces clean, safe and welcoming,” she said.
“We all play a part in keeping Greater Shepparton clean. Simple actions like using bins correctly, reporting issues early and keeping spaces tidy can make a real difference.”
Street and footpath sweepers operate across the CBD, residential areas and surrounding towns on scheduled runs.
Large sweepers can collect up to three cubic metres of debris per load, completing up to six loads a day during peak leaf season, while footpath sweepers service shopping precincts and shared spaces, collecting up to one cubic metre per load.
Street sweepers can travel up to 550km a week while operating at around 8 km/h, and together crews collect more than 1000 tonnes of debris across the municipality each year.
A dedicated council webpage provides information and reporting links, including graffiti reporting, free removal kits for private property and illegal dumping services.
