What a fabulous day at the Berrigan Cup last Saturday, the weather was ideal and the track and setting was perfect.
There were many celebrations at the races, one stand out was Baxter’s celebrating 100 years. The marquee was decorated with photos and memorabilia of the Baxter Empire including a beautiful car on display in front of the marquee. Past and present staff enjoyed a great reunion.
After the first race President Geoff Swann made a surprise presentation for three life memberships
Andrew “Smiley’ Ryan and Ken and Sandy Moar received a very popular Life Membership.
Ken Moar has been on the committee for 21 years and worked tirelessly making sure the track is in top condition. Sandy Moar who is not on the committee but has worked alongside Ken over the many years making sure that the roses are always a highlight of the race meetings, among other work that Sandy has done behind the scenes with no fuss.
Smiley has been on the committee for 18 years and has done an amazing job on the surrounds, always making sure the watering system is working, spending many months out at the course before the three race meetings, working bees, cleaning the bar just to name a few jobs .
The crowd were delighted to see Ken, Sandy and Smiley receive the Life Membership of the Berrigan Race Committee.
