Police have charged a 44-year-old Shepparton woman with burglary and theft.
The burglary charge relates to her allegedly breaking into the bank, while the theft charge relates to an alleged theft of fuel cards from a car at the bank that was also allegedly broken into.
Police said the alleged break-in appeared to be “opportunistic, rather than a targeted offence”.
She was also charged with theft of alcohol and theft of a bicycle from unrelated incidents.
The woman was bailed to appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in December.
EARLIER: A Shepparton bank was allegedly broken into early on Tuesday, September 15.
Police said a person allegedly smashed their way in through the back door of the National Australia Bank in Wyndham St.
Security was alerted to the break-in at 2.15am, with police also attending.
Nothing was taken in the break-in, police said.
A 44-year-old Shepparton woman was arrested by police later on Tuesday morning.
She will be interviewed by police.
