GVL legend Dave Williams was the guest speaker at the function and had no idea he was receiving the prestigious award, which was presented by former premiership club president and stalwart Tony Hansen.
Hansen made the point Williams was the coach who launched Kyabram into its golden years in the league in recent times with the professionalism he brought to the club in the role.
Williams coached Kyabram for seven years without payment, which is virtually unheard of in these times.
Williams took over Kyabram in 2008 after it had just avoided its first wooden spoon in 2007 and in the seven years he held the coaching reins led the Bombers into three grand finals, winning the flag in 2013, and six finals series.
Williams also coached his home club, Rochester, for 16 years after an AFL career with Melbourne and Richmond and guided the GVL Tigers to flags in 1992 and 1999.
He is also a life member of Rochester Football Netball Club and a member of the GVL Hall Of Fame.
