Rochester’s last remaining side has departed the Goulburn Valley League finals, with the club’s B-reserve side departing the competition courtesy of Euroa in the semi-finals.
The Tigers were coming off a dominant week one victory over Shepparton Swans 69-46, but couldn’t repeat the feat against a top-two Magpies side on Sunday at Kyabram Recreation Reserve.
The game started promisingly for Rochester as it brought the same energy from the Swans game to bear against Euroa.
The Tigers quickly snatched the lead at 5-2 and after leading by as many as five in the term, held an 11-8 advantage at the first break.
Unfortunately, things would turn quickly after the break, the Magpies scoring seven of the first eight goals of the term to seize their own four-goal lead, which grew to seven, 28-21, by half-time.
The Tigers would start to lose touch in the third, their season on the brink at nine down at three-quarter time, and Euroa confidently closed out the game in the last 50-37.
Euroa advances to play Seymour, both clubs chasing another shot at Shepparton United in the final.
