It’s expected to be loud after Australian rules’ most iconic songs are set to be performed by the man himself at Mathoura on Saturday, September 12.
Mike Brady has been announced as grand final entertainment at the Timberyard, set to sing Australian rules’ famous football tunes.
Brady’s ‘Up There, Cazaly’ was released as a single in 1979, and it has become a staple song to appreciate the game of football.
Nowadays, it is simply not AFL grand final day without Brady belting out the goosebumps-giving tune pre-game to the biggest match of the year, as well as ‘One Day in September’, an anthem dedicated to Aussie Rules’ big dance.
But on PDL grand final day, the country crowd won’t have to fork out a pricey AFL experience to witness the legendary songs in person.
Brady will perform at half time of the PDL’s senior football grand final, set to send a tingle down the spine of those at Mathoura Recreation Reserve, and inspire an AFL level of grand final intensity in the second half.
Mathoura FNC confirmed the entertainment on Facebook this month.
“We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the one and only Mike Brady will be joining us for the PDFNL Grand Final on Saturday, 12th September, taking the stage at half time of the senior match!” the post read.
“We cannot wait to hear “Up There Cazaly” ring out across the Timberyard as we celebrate what promises to be an incredible Grand Final day!
“A huge thank you to the people who helped make this happen - Moama Bowling Club, Echuca Moama Goodyear, and a very special member of our Timbercutter family who put us in contact with Mike and helped get the ball rolling."
One thing’s for certain, the crowd will be on your side, Mike.
Barooga take on Strathmerton and Waaia face Berrigan in this weekend’s semi-final action of PDL senior football, with the winners to tackle either Katandra or Katamatite in the preliminary finals next week.
