Tocumwal’s thirds bowed out of the 2026 season with a 20 point loss to Tungamah in Sunday’s elimination final.
The side went into the match knowing they were in for a challenge, having faced the same side in their final home-and-away game and going down by 60 points.
They followed this up in the final with an excellent team performance and, while it wasn’t a win on the scoreboard, the club was proud of the effort the boys produced.
It has been a challenging season for the thirds, often having only eight to 10 boys of their own age available each week and relying heavily on the club’s fourths players stepping up and doubling up.
To not only get a side on the park each week, but make finals, was a fantastic achievement.
The boys took it right up to Tungamah from the opening bounce. Archie Chellew gave the midfielders plenty of first use, while Chace Brunskill was outstanding with his clearance work.
The backline fought hard all day under plenty of pressure, and the younger boys continually put their heads over the footy and were rewarded for their efforts.
Harrison Wilson put together a stellar third quarter, seemingly having the ball on a string, and finished a brilliant day with six goals.
The boys continued to fight the game right out, eventually going down by just 20 points, a huge turnaround from their previous meeting with Tungamah.
The playing group should be incredibly proud of their season. With limited numbers, plenty of younger boys stepping up each week and a never-give-up attitude, they showed plenty of heart and determination right to the final siren.
Goals: Harrison Wilson 6, Chace Brunskill, Charlie Wilson, Max Knight, Archie Chellew, and Sean Lykissas.

Tocumwal A-grade.
So many ups and downs, this game was truly a battle.
Picola came out firing, hungry to knock Toc out of the finals, and they made the Bloods work incredibly hard from the first whistle.
There were patches of the game that showed exactly the type of netball Toc wanted to play, and patches that were not as good, with the pressure of an elimination final impacting the style of play.
In the second half, Toc were able to push the lead out and continue to build, showing determination, fighting through the pressure and, most importantly, keeping the finals series alive.

Tocumwal C-Reserve.
C-reserve came up against a very strong and determined Tungamah outfit in their elimination final, going down by just one goal in a tight contest.
The players fought hard all game and never gave up, continuing to apply pressure across the court and pushing right until the final whistle.
While the result didn’t fall the Bloods’ way, the team displayed effort, teamwork and determination.
It has been a great season for this group. Thanks was extended to the coaches, the team captain and the team managers, for their time, support and dedication throughout the year.
Under-17s: Tocumwal 39 def Mathoura 24.
Tocumwal Under-17s.
The first quarter was a little rocky, but after that, the young Bloods were on fire.
There was strong defensive pressure right down the whole court, and the versatility was a huge factor in stopping Mathoura’s momentum and allowing the Toc girls to create their own.
