Hill Top Red had the bye and was dwelling on Rushworth to defeat Merrigum, but it was not to be. Hill Top teams have missed the final, so at Mooroopna on Sunday Merrigum top of the west pool will play top of east pool Tallygaroopna-Cosgrove.
Greatest club golf story: This has to be one of the greatest true stories related to golf ever told. To set the scene; one of Hill Top’s strong committed golfers Ryan Lindsay and his partner Tracey were expecting a baby about February 10. Ryan played golf early on Saturday, February 1 and had a good score — in fact good enough to win A-grade that day.
Ryan went home after a quick couple of drinks and the baby and Tracey, however, it goes, could not wait. Ryan delivered the baby at home. Welcome baby Charlie into the world, you must be primed to be a golfer one day. Well done Ryan and congratulations Tracey on surviving Ryan as midwife. Next day Ryan was upset because he could not play in the Hill Top pennant team and therefore missed out on qualifying for the final.
Coming events: Saturday is a stableford competition with special sponsorship day from Drummond Golf for men and women. Don’t forget your entries for the Victoria Four-Ball qualifier and for Labour Day weekend tournament.
