Matthew (Mattie) Jensen passed away peacefully at home on August 6th 2026 after a short battle with cancer surrounded by his family and close friends. He was the much loved husband of Shelley and loving father to Oscar and Astrid, loving son to Judy and Chris (dec.2014), loving brother to Katrina and Stewart, loving brother-in law to Katja and Doug and cherished uncle of Felix. He was a loved son-in-law of Stu and Linda Cottle. He was part of the extended Jensen, Cottle, Dalglish, Hooker, Valmadre and LeGrand clans and will be also be sadly missed by many friends in Cairns and across Australia.
The family wishes to thank all the family members and friends who supported Mattie through his last days along with the Cairns Palliative Care Team and the staff at the Cairns Hospital Cancer Ward for their care.
All family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held upstairs at the Palm Cove Surf Life Savings Club on August 21st from 1pm for a 1:30pm ceremony with drinks and nibblies afterwards until 4.
