It is with deep sadness that we announce George’s passing on Thursday 19th February, 2026, aged 91 years. Most dearly loved husband of Maureen (dec’d) & Helen (dec’d), loved father of Peter (dec’d), Sharon, Vicki, Tracey, & Georgina, loved father in law of Belen, Glen, Roger, Neil & Gavin, adored grandfather of his 14 grandchildren and his 21 great grandchildren.
George’s contribution of almost 40 years (1951-1990) in the Defence Force and later in his outstanding impact as mentor, guide, commentator and author will be remembered by his family, his comrades and Australia.
A Military Service to honour & commemorate the life of GEORGE MANSFORD AM will be held on TUESDAY MORNING 10th March 2026, commencing at 10.00am at St Monica’s Cathedral, 183 Abbott Street, Cairns City.
George will be privately cremated.
