The two teams had battled eight days earlier in the last round of the regular season, where Picola United prevailed 33-29.
However, it was the Cutters, who had finished one game higher on the ladder, who found their form when it counted.
They turned the tables on the Blues, eliminating them from the competition with a score of 33-31.
Mathoura now awaits the loser of the 2v3 qualifying final between Tocumwal and Tungamah, to be held this Sunday at Katunga Recreation Reserve.
The Cutters will play that semi-final on August 31 at Tungamah Recreation Reserve.
