THE Kyabram Little Athletics club are setting a high (jump) bar for their athletes, with a stack of new equipment ready to welcome new and returning participants as the season kicks of in a few weeks.
Last year the club received sponsorship to purchase two new sets of high jumps stands, high jump bars and some mats.
It followed new hurdles and throwing equipment that was purchased the year before through a grant from Vic Health.
"The majority of our equipment is now top of the range," region president Claudia Moore said.
It was a much needed facelift for the club, as most of their equipment had not been updated in nearly 15 years.
"We can now run two high jump mats to make the night run quicker, as well as provide the best opportunity for our athletes to learn the correct technique and to have their results measured correctly," Claudia said.
And it is the perfect time to give it a go, with the club's 'come and try' sessions being held tonight at 4.45pm at Kyabram P-12 College oval, and next week on September 18 at the same time.
"This year we look forward to having a few of our past athletes coming along on Wednesday night to coach our athletes in a range of events," Claudia said.
It is a particularly special year to be involved in the club, which will turn 25.
It will be holding a celebration in late November to acknowledge the past and present committee members and athletes.
But for now, it is all about getting on the track and giving everything a go.
"Our region relay event is only a few months away so we look forward to entering some teams and beginning coaching to hopefully see our athletes make it to state championships," Claudia said.
