A trip north to face the Gold Coast academy didn’t quite go to plan for the Murray Bushrangers, but a coterie of Goulburn Valley stars didn’t leave without making an impact.

The Bushranger boys are still hunting their first win of the Talent League season after a 67-point defeat to the Suns at People First Stadium’s Austworld Oval, a five-goal to one behind first quarter set in gloomy conditions laying the platform for the Bushies’ 6.8 (44) to 18.8 (116) loss.
Seymour’s Rory Kennedy toiled away in the midfield was judged the Bushies best player, while Shepparton’s Angus Williams pivot into the back six has proved fruitful with the young Bears gun also earning a mention in his team’s best performers.
Meanwhile, Mansfield’s Sam Guppy was handed his Talent League debut, the Eagles tall making an impact early against the flow of play.
The Bushies host GWS Academy at Lavington in round seven.
Meanwhile, the Bushranger under-18 girls tasted their first defeat of the season against the Gold Coast.
The Bushies were defeated by 44 points, with Shepparton United’s Ashanti Walker one of the side’s three goalscorers for the day.
