Nick Manohar, a specialist left-handed batsman, is expected to arrive in Australia this week to play in The Flames’ opening round match against Tongala at Tongala.
It will be The Flames first game this season after a bye in the opening round last Saturday.
Of West Indian ancestry, Manohar played in Canadian World Cup Under-19 side and has been in the Canadian national squad.
He can also bowl leg spin and keep wickets.
He will probably bat at number four or five according to Brigade coach Jon Varcoe.
He has been captain of his team in Canada and is expected to fit in well in The Flames’ already talented batting line-up.
And further strengthening The Flames this season is opening batsman Jayden Rosin.
Rosin previously played with the Fire Brigade, but has spent the past four seasons with Echuca South Cricket Club, and has been one its most consistent batsmen as an opener.
Rosin can also bowl, so the double recruiting spree will bolster both Brigade’s batting and bowling ranks.
It already has some rising batting stars in Bohden Learmonth, Miller Griffiths, Cooper and Hunter Fawcett complimented by Jake Gascoyne and experienced skipper Rob Salter.
‘‘We wanted to strengthen our batting, and hopefully, we’ve done that, but we also have more bowling options now as well,’’ coach Jon Varcoe said.
Tongala is looking to enjoy a more successful season than 2025-26 when it scored only the one win.
The Blues have been in a rebuilding mode for the past few years and started the new season last Saturday with a win over Echuca South on the back of 78 from opener Jayden Tucker, which will be a confidence booster for the team.
