The Rams have plenty going on with quality football cousins Willie and Ben Rioli in town.
Tight clashes look likely across the board in the netball and junior football, with the Rams ahead on the ladder in the majority of grades.
However, in senior football it will be the toughest task possible, with Congupna the last remaining unbeaten team in the Murray League.
The Rams go into that clash following a 67-point loss to Finley.
Rams coach John Fitzpatrick said the young Rams faced an improved Finley line-up compared to the early season match-up.
“It was a tough fought out battle, as we thought it might be. They came out to get revenge from our win on Good Friday.
“They had Jed Anderson, who has played a bit of AFL football, and topped up with some class players who have played in the VFL and O&M (Ovens and Murray).
“Spencer Cowley played his first senior game as a 16 year-old, Oscar Wren was important as a 17 year-old, and we had a few kids stand up from the thirds and play, which was really good.
“Other than the result, I think we’re tracking well.
“Cable (Fitzpatrick) is five weeks back from a knee injury and tracking well, Hendo (Will Henderson) has been really good for us and even our connection, from midfield to forward line for example, with Brock Redden has been good.
“There are a lot of positives, and we’ve got a few results on the board early, so there is a bit to be positive.”
Against ladder-leaders Congupna, Fitzpatrick said his side will use the game as a chance to examine themselves against the league’s best.
“We’ll look to perform. Also, we’ll try to learn a bit from them and how they play.
“They’ve been the best side in the comp for the last few seasons, outside of last year’s grand final due to some poor goal kicking.
“They’re very good quality, but we’ve been focused on putting in four quarter efforts.
“If we can give effort all the way, we’ll not be disappointed, but its making sure we don’t drop off.
“That’ll be part of the learning process this weekend.”
A highlight of this weekend’s home game will be the addition of AFL, WAFL and NTFL talents in Willie and Ben Rioli.
Premiership players across their careers, the pair will join the side in a one-off match for the Rams at home.
The Rams will be hosting a match day function in the upstairs viewing area from 1pm, where the Riolis will do a pre match Q&A before contributing plenty of experience to the team.
“These guys will be there to help with our younger blokes, and it should be an amazing weekend.
“They bring a change and something a bit different for our supporters.”
Tickets to the Rioli function are $100 and include finger food and drinks.
Tickets are limited and can be purchased using the link on the club’s Facebook page or in person at Frank n Beans cafe.
