In an all Blues elimination final Tongala dispatched Numurkah from Murray Netball League A-grade on Saturday, moving one step closer to its premiership dreams.

After just missing out on second spot, Tonny has no room for error in this finals series and played like it early at Moama Recreation Reserve, scoring the first six goals before Numurkah could get out of the blocks.

The opposing Blues got on the board and kept things relatively even from there, with six remaining the margin at quarter time.
Tongala again started strongly in the second term, getting the lead out to 12 by the halfway point of the quarter and that’s where it stood at the half, Tongala in a strong position to advance at 32-20 at the main break.

It was more of the same in the third as Tonny kept Numurkah at arm’s-length.
A late six-goal run cut the margin to double digits in the dying minutes, but Tongala was still a comfortable winner 57-49.
Chicky Vick scored 14 goals in a supporting scoring role.
The Blues now move on to take on Rumbalara in another do-or-die contest, after Rumba advanced in the other elimination semi-final over Moama 54-45.
Milly Brock anchored the Tongala attack with 42 of 57 goals.
Tongala has only faced off with the two-time defending champion once this season, a tight 54-51 away win on May 30.
The game will be held this Sunday, September 6 at Scott Oval at Cobram from 2pm.
The winner will go on to a preliminary final against the loser of the qualifying semi-final between top two Nathalia and Mulwala, who play this Saturday for a grand final place.
