C’mon mate, it’s only 42km of running

It’s not everyday your mate asks you if you’ll run a marathon with them.
And if they do – you kind of hope they were joking.
This was the situation Kyabram Woolworths deli manager Ben Munro found himself in recently when his friend and colleague Matt McCann asked him to compete in the Melbourne Marathon with him.
“Matt asked me to do it and I said yes, thinking he would forget about it,” he said.

Kerry has found the recipe for longevity
Thirty-five years is a long time with any organisation.
However, when you love what you do, the time flies.
That’s what Tongala and District memorial Aged Care Service cook Kerry Jones, who recently celebrated 35 years with the company, has found any way.
Ms Jones started with the facility as a cleaner and kitchen hand, however, her work ethic allowed her to become a weekday cook.

Ky Glass takes it to the main street
A business which initially opened its doors to Kyabram for just one day a week, has prospered to such an extent over the years that its proprietor, Kevin Turner, has decided to take it to the main street of Kyabram.
Ky Glass now operates as a full time business employing both Kevin and third year apprentice Matthew Grealy.
Kevin, who has 25 years’ experience in the building industry, said he wanted his business to be easily accessible for local people.
Hence, the shift from 94 Bradley St, where it had operated for the past three years, to 232 Allan St.

Postmaster turns hand to training
A local postmaster who races horses as a hobby said he should have knocked off racing with 100 per cent success after his first horse won her first race.
But he kept going, and today has an impressive record.
Tatura postmaster Murray Evans has been interested in racing horses for years, but has only really concentrated on them since he got his owner trainer licence in 1973.
Since then, he’s scored seven wins and a number of placings.
